Vintgar Gorge Parking Overview

There are essentially two parking options at Vintgar Gorge. The official gorge car park is the recommended choice for all visitors arriving by car, campervan, or bus. It is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the Vintgar Gorge entrance. Parking is included in the “Vintgar Gorge All-in-One Pass,” which covers your entrance ticket and the shuttle service. A free shuttle bus runs regularly from this central car park directly to the gorge, making it the most convenient and sustainable way to arrive.

In addition to the official lot, there is a private car park situated right at the gorge entrance. However, this area has a very limited number of spaces and fills up quickly during the peak season. The fee for this parking spot is €10.

1. Official Vintgar Gorge Parking Lot Vintgar LIP (with shuttle service)

  • Location and distance: This is the official main car park for the Vintgar Gorge. It is located approximately 2.5 km from the entrance and is the recommended car park for all visitors arriving by car, campervan or bus.
  • Cost: Contrary to previous practice, this car park is no longer free . The parking fee is included in the “Vintgar Gorge All-in-One Pass,” which covers the ticket for the gorge, access to the car park, and the shuttle bus. Previously, an additional parking fee of €5 was charged.
  • Shuttle bus: A free shuttle bus runs from here directly to the entrance of the gorge and back. This is the most convenient and sustainable way to get from the parking lot to the entrance. The bus usually runs every 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Vehicles: This large parking lot offers ample space for cars, motorhomes and buses.

2. Private Vintgar Gorge car Park at the entrance

  • Location: There is a smaller, private Parking right at the entrance of the gorge.
  • Cost and capacity: This Parking is very limited and in the main season is quickly crowded. The Parking fees are 10 € per car.
  • Additional information: As this parking lot often fills up quickly, it is recommended to use the official, larger parking lot and the shuttle service.
